"Got called into work at the last minute.. people have been getting sick lately.. so they're short... It's not a long shift.. so I'll be home at 3." Mal smiled, blowing a kiss at Corey before opening the door to leave.

"Oh... have fun," Corey replied, smiling back and waving as Mal left the apartment. He quickly finished his cereal, cleaned up, and dove on to the couch.

Mal walks down the hall and presses the elevator button, shifting her weight on each leg while waiting for the elevator.

after waiting for a good couple minutes, the elevator doors slid open, and Mal walked in, pressing the button to go down to the main floor.
as the elevator started to close, she glanced around in the elevator.
"..... It's really quiet today...." she thought to herself.

Corey continued flipping through the channels and stopped on the news. "Why isn't there anything good on?" He complained to himself.

Lexi suddenly gets attacked by a vampire while getting the x-ray out of the envelope. She somehow breaks the fourth wall and -- wait, that isn't what this is about, is it?

Mal stepped out of the elevator, onto the lobby floor, noticing a lot fewer people than the norm around there, but shrugged it off as she headed for the garage, located her car, and took off driving towards her job.

Josh sat down in a chair in the Lab and pulled himself towards his laptop. He had finally cleaned up all the cables but there was other stray equipment lying around. He figured he would stop for now and check his email, seeing as how he would need to get one of the veteran Tech's permission to move some of the other hardware into storage.
He typed his credentials in and unlocked his laptop. "Huh... that's odd..." Josh said to himself. His inbox was practically the same size it was when he checked it earlier. "Two hours have passed and no down clients...." He refreshed his mail once more then moved on to check the other queues.

Flipping through the radio stations in her car, almost all of them with dead are.. till she came across a news broadcast,
....And with this unknown outbreak, causing thousands bed ridden, medical officials are fighting to find out what is the cause of this virus that is going around... It's known to be highly contagious, and the symptoms are violent vomiting, extreme high fever, causing delusions and random fits... if you or anyone you know has any of these symptoms, it is highly encouraged that you schedule a visit with your doctor for treatment....
"... Lovely... " Mal said, turning the radio off as she came to a stop at a stop light.

After checking all the ticketing systems three times over, Joshua was even more perplexed. All of the systems were virtually void of any ticket submissions from today; none have been made. An high-importance email then pinged onto the computer's screen...
- From: Communications To: All Employees Subject: Outbreak Address - Operations Ceased
Attention all working employees and contractors. It has come to attention that the recent outbreak across the city has left many sicken in bed and unable to arrive to perform their duties today.
Approximately over half of all employees have reported in ill and have not come into work. Many of our day to day operations in all departments have either halted or slowed to inefficiency. The Board of Leaders held an emergency meeting this morning and have decided in order to preserve resources and reduce risk of the sickness spreading throughout the company, all Retail Operations are to advised to cease work and leave the premises as soon as possible. Security will be around to assist those who need it and NuEnergy shall remain closed until further notice.
Thank you all for your hard work and cooperation. Please have a safe journey home.
-NuEnergy: Communications- -
"Wow... guess it was too quiet." Josh thought, processing what he just read. "At least I get to leave early~" He quickly gathered his things and turned of his computer. Walking out, he said his good-byes to his team who were also preparing to leave, and exited the building.

"An outbreak? What kind of outbreak?" Alfred listened intently as the news story rolled across the screen. It outlined the events currently taking place. "I-It's probably just like the Bird Flu or something. No n-need to be scared, right, Alfred?" Stuttering, he reassured himself.

Mal waited patiently for the light to change, watching a man, who looked like he was having a hard time walking across the street, he had a bad limp to his walk.
".... I wonder if that guy noticed the do not walk sign is on..." she thought to herself.
suddenly screeching tires filled the air as an oncoming car struck the man, sending him flying into the air.
"OH MY GOD!"

Josh walked down the escalator of the center and crossed to the street to the bus stop. His bus soon came and he quickly boarded, taping his fare-card on the sensor, and sitting down in one of the front row seats. "At least the buses seem to be running fine." He thought.
