Ryko was thrown against the wall as a man pummeled his stomach with his fists. The man stopped and Ryko crumpled on the ground. The man side-kicked him across the face. Ryko looked up with a bloody and bruised face, "Now now, sunshine, I don't usually let girls touch me until the third or forth date. It's this think I have called morals maybe yo-" the man picked him up and threw him onto a table, shattering the table, "listen you little punk, this is the wrong place to be. Why don't you scurry home to momma before I pay her a visit myself." Ryko winced at the mention of his mom. "Maybe I could treat her to a good time," the man winked. "Yea... I really wish you had the brains to know when to shut up." Ryko smirked. The man rushed him. "The time for games is over," Ryko thought. The kid jumped up and wrapped his legs around the man's head, throwing him to the ground with a powerful force. "Listen, old man, I don't want to make things worse for you and your gang of pansies. So I suggest-" the man stood up, "I see..." Ryko sighed. He hated using his bending for violence. It irked him. He wasn't a violent person, really! He wasn't. But enough was enough. As cliché as it was, "more like poetic justice or irony", Ryko thought. He shot the beer out of the kegs and classes and launched it at the man and his lackeys. Stunned, they eventually stood up. Thei leader launched a piece of ground at him. "Ooooh really? Earth benders? Is it my birthday?" Ryko dodge the earth and launched a torrent of water at him. He spun around creating a small whirlpool of water, knocking the others down. As they all lay unconscious, he asked the bartender for the phone. "Beifong, I have a Christmas present for you. Come on down to the bar on Seventh Street. I got some earth bending gang. You know the drill. I prefer cash. Thanks! You're a doll." Ryko hung up the phone. He pulled out a roll of money and tossed it at the bartender. "Sorry, man. But listen, if you stopped hosting local gangs, maybe your place wouldn't be a wreck all the time!" Ryko chuckled as the man yelled something at him in a foreign language until he looked at the money, afterwhich his demeanor changed to a grateful one. -------- Ryko opened to door to his apartment. It was in the nice part of town. You would never expect a guy like him to live in such a nice place. He wasn't filthy rich but his many... Jobs kept him well fed. He wasn't a bounty-hunter PER SAY... More along the lines of... Nope, he was a bounty hunter and a damn good one at that. He winced in pain as he walked into the bathroom. He turned on the hot water and removed his shirt and saw the several cuts and bruises, as well as where the knife had been shoved straight into his shoulder. He looked t his face in the mirror, "Okay, not even counting the bones and injuries on my legs... This will take about two to three hours of healing." Ryko turned on the radio and layed down in the warm bath, soaking it in an rejuvenating himself. He was too cocky this time. But what fun would it be if he let it be easy?

"Welcome back, Mr. Hat Trick." Korra grinned. "How was your day at work?"
[HNNNNG FAIL]
--------
Kavik smiled as he entered the council hall of Republic City. He took a seat at his respective side of the large desk and big a hello to the two council members who were present. "And now all we need is Tenzin."

Mako wiped his hand across his forehead."Tiring, but at the end of the day I nabbed two guys trying to rob a store." He grinned, "How was yours?"
--------------------
Tenzin walks in promptly and moves towards his eat at the table. "Hello, everyone." He said before taking his seat.

"Oh, you know, the usual." Korra replied. "Airbending training and all that... Glad you nabbed some crooks, Mr. Officer," she winked.
----
"Glad you're here, Tenzin!" Kavik grinned at Tenzin from across the desk. "Shall we get this meeting underway?"

"Hehe~ I think Lin may even be starting to war-" "rrrraAAAAwwwwrrrr!" Meelo screamed, zooming past Mako and Korra on an disruptive air-scooter.
--------
Tenzin nodded at Kavik. "Yes, as you all heard from the police there has been some suspicious activity taking place in Republic City. Six months ago Avatar Korra and her friends team up take down Amon... in which they succeeded and the Equalists group withered. But the activity happening lately has signs the correlate to the Equalists."

(Psshhh... Noooo. And come in when you feel ready ^^)
"Hold that thought," Korra grinned, running after the young airbender. "Meelo, wait! How about a race?"
-----
"Has anyone been investigating the occurances?" asked Kavik. His brows furrowed and his gaze shot to the surface of the desk. "If this truly is the Equalists making a comeback, we need to do all we can to prevent another uprising to occur. Spirits know we the last thing we need is a copycat Amon."

Ryko got out of the bath and dried off. He put on his clothes and walked over to the door. An envelope had been pushed through the mail slot. He opened it up and it was his money along with another note. Dear Ryko, "Oh boy... Another "join the police" letter from our dear chief Beifong." Each time he asked for his payment, she sent a letter outlining the different benefits to joining the police. This time, it was women. Not that Ryko had never considered joining the force, but the rules turned him off to it. Sure, women liked a man in uniform, but he didn't do it for women or even the money. "I do it... for justice, Ryko thought dramatically and then burst out in laughter, I so do it for the fun of it. Ryko called back Beifong and told her the customary "no" answer finishing with "You're a doll." It was a gag they had between them. Well... more him than her. He considered her somewhat of a friend. He didn't really have many of those. He had a lot of enemies, though. His mind drifted to the avatar. He looked up to her, even though she might have been a bit younger. However, that was only in body. The spirit was a bit different. He dreamed to fight alongside of her, but he knew that would never happen. Maybe if he joined the police force, but that would never happen either. He sighed sat on the couch. Ryko turned on the radio and heard about the recent sightings of Equalists. "How can everyone be equal, if some people are forced into slavery?" Ryko thought aloud. He was referring to the way Amon belittled the benders. Ryko, himself, went into hiding during their raid on republic city. He had heard about Amon's past and how he and his brother were bloodbenders. That "art" disgusted Ryko. He had set his mind to figuring out a way to fight bloodbending. It all had to do with the flow of the blood and if he could figure out how to counteract it, it would no longer be a problem. However, only water benders could use it. He had tried many times, unsuccessfully, to counter act it. He studied under Katara for a long while and she taught him the art so that he may find a 'cure'. He failed her while he was there and even though she commended him for his work, she, herself, was upset. He was going to find a way to fix this someday, he just needed to figure out how.

Adena took in a deep breath of the outdoor air as soon as she stepped out of the door to her apartment complex and onto the cement steps. She wrinkled her nose as the scents of the city invaded her senses; the smell of exhaust from the buzzing cars, the smoke from the various lit cigarettes, the thick emission clouds carrying through the air from the factories. All of this left Adena longing for her place back in the Fire Nation. There, she never had to worry about the troubles of the city. Yes, the Fire Nation had indeed modernized, as had the other nations; however, they never advanced as much as Republic City. While she did miss home, Adena would admit being in the city had its perks; from the fantastic food, to the nightlife, Adena knew she couldn't get any of this in the Fire Nation. Here, she could have meals from every nation without walking but a few blocks from her apartment! It was fantastic, but with her being out of a job, the yuans she had saved up from her work back home wouldn't last very long. She needed a steady income, she needed confirmation that she wouldn't lose her new home, or go starving. The last thing the twenty-five year old needed was her father finding out his little girl hadn't made it out in the city and was picking from garbage bins in order to survive.
At least I can count on my brother to loan me some money if I do end up in a rut... she thought to herself, walking down the steps and onto the sidewalk. She walked for a bit, smiling at the passersby who bid her a hello, and scowling at those who seemed to snub her. She arrived at another apartment complex and walked inside. She found the appropriate room number and knocked on the door. "Ryko, open up! It's Adena!"

Ryko sighed as he heard his "sister" knock on the door. He hid his notebook with his work since it was against the law to be studying blood bending. He opened the door to welcome his step-sister into his apartment. "Oh hi." Ryko said with a forced smile

"Don't give me that," Adena smirked, pushing her way past her step-brother and into his apartment. She sat down on a chair close to a table and propped her feet up. "I hope I didn't disturb you, dear brother."

What do you want, sister? Ryko asked, shutting the door behind her. "I hope you don't think you're staying here with me."

"You'd enjoy me being out on the streets, wouldn't you?" Adena laughed, throwing her arms behind her head. "For your information, I have my own place I'm staying at. However... I'm having trouble keeping it and keeping myself well fed. Father only gave me so much and it didn't go a long way. I came here looking for your assistance in helping me find a job."

"I guess it just sucks to be you, then because I can't help you in that departme- Wait a second..." Ryko smiled and went to get the letter. The police chief, Beifong, and I... we go waaay back. I would never take the job... but I could recommend you as a suitable replacement." He stopped for a second, "It pays well."

"A career in law enforcement, eh?" Adena pursed her lips, pondering on the idea for a moment before continuing. "If I really wanted a career like that, I would have taken Dad up on his recommendation to enlist in the United Forces. I'm not sure if I'm fit for the entire, crime fighting, thing."
