"I don't think that's a good idea... Why don't we just check with Mako first?" Korra suggested. "If he doesn't know, we'll check with Tenzin when he gets back. Deal?"

"Whatever you think is best!" Ryko walked inside and sat in the living room.

Korra stared in shock as Ryko barged into Tenzin's home. This guy was really pushing his luck, wasn't he? No matter, she followed him inside. "I'm going to go find Mako. Stay put. Don't touch anything. I'll be back in a minute."

Ryko sat on the couch but decided to explore the small area he was in. He looked and saw pictures of Tenzin and his family then some of Korra and her friends. He picked up a vase and then looked at it. He dropped it but managed to catch it with some water and put it back up. Ryko felt antsy so he got up and walked around the island. He saw a kid riding some air, a really small one. The kid sped towards him and stopped when he got to him. "HI! MY NAME IS IKKI! YOU'RE CUTE! WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU ONE OF KORRA'S FRIENDS? DO YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON KORRA? ARE YOU A BENDER? CAN YOU AIRBEND? WHAT KIND OF BENDING CAN YOU DO? DO YOU WANT TO BE MY FRIEND?" Ikki rattled off the questions at Ryko. "Uh... Hi Ikki. I'm Ryko. Thanks. No. No. Yes. No. Water. Sure!" Ikki jumped for joy and sped off. Ryko stood there a bit confused and continued to walk the grounds.

[NOTE TO JOSH: Since you is gone for the weekend, I believe you said, I'll be taking temporary control of Mako. Okay? OKAY!]
"Let me get this straight; this guy just waterbenders his way onto the island, claiming he's discovered a way to counter-act bloodbending, and he wants me to read over his notes?" Mako asked as Korra led him into the main room of Tenzin and Pema's home.
"Yeah. I'm mainly just humoring him," Korra responded. She blinked, surveying the main room; Ryko was nowhere to be found. "Are you kidding me?"
"What? He's just wandering the island, now?"
"Obviously... Come on, we need to find this lunatic."
Grabbing Mako's wrist, Korra led him out of the building and the two began searching for Ryko.

Ryko sat on the edge of the island and dipped his feet in the water. It was relaxing and calming to be out of the city. He laid back and closed his eyes. He sighed and breathed in the salty air as the wind blew across his face. He pulled out his notebook and began to look at his writing. He was on to something.

The pair had been walking around the island for what seemed like hours when they finally discovered Ryko at the edge of the island, dipping his feet in the waters of the bay and observing the work in his notebook. Korra groaned, letting out a "Finally!", and dragged Mako toward him. "Do you mind staying in one place when someone tells you to?" she asked. "Now, this is Mako. Mako, this is Ryko."
"Uh, hi."

Ryko jumped up. "Well hi there Mako! Beifong told me about you in her letter! One of her promising recruits! Pleasure to make your acquaintance!" Ryko shook his hand. "Now onto business..." He handed Mako the notebook.

"Um, thanks, I think..." Mako muttered, taking the notebook. He flipped through the various pages filled with scribbles, text, and equations, some of which he could make out from basic knowledge, while others, he hadn't an idea what they meant. "Before I even begin to discuss any of this with you, you are aware I have the right to arrest you right this moment, right? Both for trespassing and studying an illegal technique?"

"Technically, this isn't necessarily trespassing. Korra didn't really tell me to leave. Now, if I had come onto the island and refused to leave, I'd be off because I would leave like the decent person I am, or Avatar Korra would have put me in a full body cast. Second, I'm a student of Katara so I think that allows me to bend the rules, no pun intended." Ryko said, not smiling. "Every now and then I can be serious. This is one of those times. You've seen what monsters like Tarlock and Amon can do when they blood bend. Especially now that we know it is possible without a full moon. I don't practice the 'technique', if you would call this plague a technique, of blood bending. I was tasked with finding a cure." Ryko looked Mako in the eyes.

Mako looked down at Ryko. "No, it does not allow you to bend the rules. You are a citizen of Republic City, therefore, you are breaking a law by simply researching this technique! I'm not even sure if any of this is possible!" Mako began to flip through the pages once more, taking in everything that was written down. "If - and I'm using if very lighting - it was possible to counter-act bloodbending with this technique, why hasn't anyone discovered this, already? To my knowledge, the only way to counter-act the technique is through the technique itself."

"Just like a firebender... fighting fire with fire. Doesn't that just make more fire? Listen, it's a fairly simple technique but there's a lot of precision and training behind it. I myself haven't even tested it. However, the math and the logic works. If you require more proof, find a blood bender and test it on me. I know how it works and I'll gladly stand by my theory. Though, the only problem is that it requires a highly skilled waterbender, otherwise they might lose focus or not be able to complete the task. It requires multitasking and focussing on a few different things. As easy as it sounds..." Ryko trailed off and looked at his notes one last time to make sure he had it in his head.

"Look, pal," Mako snarled, "I'm not going to assist you in something that is against the law. I work to uphold the law and to make sure it doesn't get broken, understand? Maybe you should go talk to someone who actually cares about assisting you, but be careful; I'll be on patrol and if I have suspicions, I won't hesitate to arrest you. Now get off the island."

"So you'd rather have- you know, this is why I keep telling Beifong no! You guys care more about the law thank people themselves. Forget it, I'll find someone else." Ryko jumped off the edge and surfed away. He needed to find someone else, but he couldn't think of anyone. He needed to find someone that could get him to Katara. But who?

"Good riddance," Mako mumbled. He turned to Korra and smirked. "You see him around again, you tell me. Or, better yet, if you take care of him yourself, I'll pretend I never saw a thing." he winked.
"Sounds like a plan, City Boy."
